ハンシンウミウシ Chromodoris joshi Gosliner & Behrens, 1998

特徴

体長は最大60mm。体地色は鮮やかなバター色から黄色で、背面の黄色域はやや暗い金黄色の縁取りに移行する。黄色域には白色の小斑が密に散布する。背面の縁を黒い幅広い submarginal band が一周し、外套膜縁から鰓のすぐ後方まで続く。バンドの幅には個体差があり、中央でくびれて砂時計状になることもあれば、左右に分かれてグレーの隙間を挟むこともある。背面正中線にもやや細い黒色の縦帯が触角直後から現れ、鰓の根元付近まで走るが、断続することもある。三角形の足は背面と同色で、左右に黒い縦線が走る。触角と鰓はパンプキンオレンジで均一。鰓は11〜15枚の単羽状鰓葉、触角は約30枚の褶葉をもつ。

分布

模式産地はフィリピン・カバン島 Maricaban Strait の Kirby's Rock (Holotype CASIZ 083806、1992年2月24日 Jerry Allen 採集)。これまでフィリピン・インドネシア (スマトラ、Debelius 1996 写真)・タイ (アンダマン海、Mark Strickland 写真) から記録されている。岩壁の外縁やリーフフロントの水深5〜30mで観察される。

種小名の由来

種小名 joshi は、第一著者 Terrence Gosliner の息子 Joshua Todd Gosliner への献名。フィリピンでのフィールド調査の間、父親と離れて何度も誕生日を迎えたことを我慢してくれた、明るく好奇心旺盛な学生への謝意として付けられた。

補足

Chromodoris quadricolor 種群 (黒い縦線をもつ Chromodoris の一群) の一員として、原記載では同時記載の C. dianae・C. michaeli と共にこの群に位置づけられた。ただし類似種の中では C. africana Eliot, 1904・C. magnifica (Quoy & Gaimard, 1832)・C. kuiteri Rudman, 1982 と最も近い。C. africana は背面正中線を含めて黒色色素が広く、本種は中線寄りの黒帯が幅広い submarginal band として残る点で異なる。C. magnifica はマントル腺が孤立し離れる傾向が強いが、本種は C. africana と同様に連続的に密集する。歯舌では本種は中央歯を欠き、内側側歯が外側 1〜4 個の denticles をもつ点で C. kuiteri・C. magnifica と区別される。
