シフォプテロン・キトリヌム Siphopteron citrinum (Carlson & Hoff, 1974)

特徴

体長約 4 mm の小型のウミコチョウ類。体色は半透明の鮮やかなレモンイエロー、ピンク、あるいは黄とピンクが混じり合った個体まで変異がある。側足の縁に黒色や濃色のラインは入らず、サイフォンの先端付近にわずかに黒色斑が見られる程度で、対比的な縁取りを欠く。右側に細長い鞭状突起を備え、左右の側足は接触せずに離れる。

分布

模式産地はグアム (マリアナ諸島)。

種小名の由来

種小名 citrinum はラテン語 citrinus (レモン色の) に由来し、本種の鮮やかな黄色の体色にちなむ。

補足

同属の Siphopteron brunneomarginatum や Siphopteron nigromarginatum は側足縁に明瞭な濃色の縁取りをもつ点で本種と区別できる。Siphopteron tigrinum はオレンジ地に青紫の縞をもつ点で外見的に区別される。
