フェリマレ・アガッシジイ Felimare agassizii (Bergh, 1894)

特徴

体長 38 mm 程度に達する小〜中型のイロウミウシ類。生時の体地色は濃褐色から赤褐色で、背面全体に黄色の円斑が散在し、黄色の円斑よりやや大型の青色斑を伴う個体も見られる。外套膜の周縁部は外側から順に黄色帯と水色帯を伴い、両帯は前方・左右側方・後方の一部で途切れる。触角は黒色、二次鰓はクリーム色で先端が黒ずむ。Bergh の原記載 (アルコール固定 1 個体) は体長 12 mm、体高 5 mm、体幅 5 mm の個体に基づき、地色は全体に青色で、背面と体側に多数の小型の卵形の白色点が散在し、触角孔と円形の鰓孔の周囲では特に密集して並ぶと記述された。背面の側部はオリーブ緑で、不連続な (前後で途切れる) 白色の縦帯が走り、外套膜縁そのものには 2 本の細い連続的な白色線が引かれる。体側の上部 (ほぼ突出しない外套膜縁に沿った位置) には細いオリーブ緑の帯があり、その下にもところどころ途切れた白色線が走る。足底は緑黄色を呈し、触角の葉状部は青色でジグザグの前後縁をもち、二次鰓の葉は強い黄色で先端は青色を呈した。鰓は 7 枚のほぼ等大の葉から成り、その鋭い内縁は白色で、ときに青色の細帯を伴う。模式産地はパナマ湾で、Tridachia diomedea (= Elysia diomedea) と同じ場所から採集された。

分布

東太平洋。模式産地はパナマ湾 (パナマ共和国) で、米国魚類委員会蒸気船 Albatross が 1891 年に Alexander Agassiz の指揮下で行った浚渫調査で得られた 1 個体に基づく。コスタリカ、パナマ、メキシコ、ガラパゴス諸島など熱帯東太平洋に分布する。

種小名の由来

本種を採集させた Albatross 浚渫探検の指揮者であり、ハーバード大学比較動物学博物館長を務めたスイス系米国人海洋生物学者 Alexander Agassiz (1835-1910) への献名。原記載で Bergh は綴りを「Agassizii」 (大文字始まり) としている。

補足

原記載では Bergh が Chromodoris 属に置いた。後にイロウミウシ属 Glossodoris へ、さらに Hypselodoris へと移され、現在は分子系統解析に基づき Felimare 属に置かれる (author 表記の括弧書きは一連の属移動を示す)。
