カイコガイダマシ Liloa porcellana (A. A. Gould, 1859)
特徴
半透明で白色の円筒形の殻を持つブドウガイの仲間。殻表面には螺旋状の線が入り、老成個体ほど明瞭になる。軟体部は灰色で、白色および褐色の斑点がある。分布
インド洋〜太平洋の熱帯域に広く分布。ハワイでも記録がある。種小名の由来
種小名 porcellana はイタリア語・ラテン語で「磁器」または「タカラガイの殻」を意味する。殻の滑らかで光沢のある質感を表現している。補足
原記載名は Atys porcellana Gould, 1859。Haminoeidae（ブドウガイ科）に属する。夜行性で、日中は砂中に潜って過ごす。水深8〜29mで見られる。References
