特徴

体長は数cm前後の小型のミノウミウシ。背側突起の内部を走る消化腺は暗褐色で、外側からよく透けて見える。各突起の背側に沿って白い線が走り、先端近くにオレンジ色から赤色のリング状の斑紋を持つのが本種の目立つ特徴。地色や斑紋の濃淡には個体差が大きく、色彩変異は激しい。

分布

模式産地は北海道小樽市の忍路湾。日本海北部から北海道沿岸に分布し、南千島列島まで及ぶ可能性がある。

種小名の由来

種小名「osyoro」は、模式産地である北海道小樽市の忍路湾を指す。「osyoro」は地名「オショロ（忍路）」の古いローマ字表記で、現代の表記では Oshoro と綴られる。馬場菊太郎博士が 1940 年に新種記載した際、当時の慣用に従って「osyoro」を採用した。

補足

馬場 1940 で Cuthona 属の新種として記載され、長らく Cuthona あるいは Cuthonella として扱われてきたが、2025 年の改訂による北太平洋ミノウミウシ類の分類体系の見直しで新属 Nella に移された。同属の Nella soboli (ソボルイミノウミウシ) と外見が似るが、本種は背側突起の先端付近に明瞭なオレンジ〜赤色のリング状斑を持つ点で区別される。
