ヒュプセロドーリス・ベネッティ Hypselodoris bennetti (Angas, 1864)

特徴

体長 35 mm、体幅 10 mm 程度の中型のイロウミウシ類。体は厚みがあり、後部はやや細く尖り、地色は美しい紺青色を帯びる薔薇紫色の不規則斑で全体に飾られる。外套膜は前縁が丸まり広く、外縁は橙色の帯で縁取られる。薔薇色の斑は外套膜中央部および周縁に沿って特に密に分布する。背側触角と鰓は薔薇紫色を呈し、鰓は数多く分離した羽状で並ぶ。Angas の原記載は体長 35 mm、体幅 10 mm の個体に基づく。

分布

オーストラリア南東部 (タスマン海)。模式産地はオーストラリア・ニューサウスウェールズ州・ポートジャクソン湾 (シドニー湾内) で、Angas が夏期 (12-2 月) に石下や干潮時に多数採集した。本種はポートジャクソン内および外で広く見られると Angas が記録している。

種小名の由来

シドニーの著名な博物学者 George Bennett 博士 (1804-1893) への献名。Angas は原記載で「George Bennett の名はオーストラリアの博物史にあまりに密接に結びついているため、本種を彼に献ずる喜びを得た」と記している。

補足

原記載において Angas は Goniodoris 属に置いた。Goniodoris Forbes, 1840 は外套膜が細く後部が尖るドーリス類の属。後年の分類学的整理により本種は Hypselodoris 属に移された (author 表記の括弧書きはこの属移動を示す)。
