デルマトブランクス・アルビネウス Dermatobranchus albineus Gosliner & Fahey, 2011

特徴

体長7〜15mmほど。体は幅広く扁平で、後方が細くなる。広い足は明瞭な外套膜の縁を超えて張り出す。背面には約16本の縦走稜があり、後方では各側でこれらの間に3本の短い稜が現れる。明瞭な砧（きぬた）形の口幕は前方および側方に大きく張り出す。口幕の後ろに密接して触角があり、縦褶葉、柄に褶葉はない。
背面と口幕の地色はピンク〜灰色がかった白。背側稜と足縁は不透明白色。触角は淡黄色で、垂直褶葉部に不透明白色をのせる。

分布

南アフリカ大西洋岸および印度洋岸の冷温帯域（Cape Peninsula 〜 Algoa Bay）。模式産地は Hottentot Huisie, Atlantic coast, Cape Peninsula, Cape Province。

種小名の由来

原記載 (Gosliner & Fahey, 2011, p.287) の Etymology 段落は次の通り — "The specific name albineus is a noun in apposition from a Latin word for 'white' to describe the whitish coloration of this Dermatobranchus." 種小名 albineus はラテン語の「白」を意味する語に由来する同格名詞で、本種の白っぽい体色にちなむ。

補足

ケープ・オブ・グッドホープ周辺の岩礁・浅海冷温帯域に棲息し、軟珊瑚 Eleutherobia variabile を捕食する。
